Rent golf clubs in Pinehurst
Dozens of courses within a short drive of the village. Pick up a set from a local golfer and play as many of them as your legs allow.
More golf than you can carry clubs for
Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen sit almost on top of each other, with more good golf between them than most people can fit into one trip. It's a classic long-weekend destination — which makes checking a golf bag for two or three days of play hard to justify.
Renting from a local golfer keeps it simple. Sets on Tools of Golf are privately owned, the listing shows exactly what's in the bag, and you pick up and return at the spot the owner has set.
What to look for in a rental set
Sandhills golf is about the approach and what happens around the green. Fairways are generous, but crowned greens and tightly mown surrounds send anything slightly off line running away, so you'll use your wedges and putter from places you wouldn't at home.
Look for a set with wedges you like the look of and a putter you can trust from off the green. Match shaft flex and length to your own clubs, and check what's included in the listing.
Getting there and getting a game
Raleigh-Durham is the usual airport, a little over an hour away by car, with Charlotte and Fayetteville as alternatives. Resort courses are booked through the resort; Pine Needles, Mid Pines, Southern Pines and Tobacco Road take public tee times.
Pick a set near where you're staying or on your route in from the airport, and book it for the whole stay. The calendar on each listing shows the dates the owner has open.

Pricing
What a rental costs
Owners set their own prices, so there's no single rate card. Every listing uses one of two models, and the price you see is the price you pay.
Day rate
One price per day
The simplest model: a flat daily price multiplied by the number of days you book.
Price bands
Cheaper the longer you keep them
Owners can set bands by length — for example one price for a weekend and a lower daily rate for a week. Each listing shows its own bands.
No extras
Nothing added at checkout
Pickup is local, so there's no shipping, and no booking fee on top of the listed price. A deposit, if the owner asks for one, is a hold on your card rather than a charge.
Rental protection
How renters and owners are covered
The same four rules apply to every rental on Tools of Golf.
You pay through the site
Rentals are paid by card at booking, through Stripe. The price on the listing is the price you pay, and you never need to hand cash to an owner.
A deposit is a hold, not a charge
If an owner asks for a deposit, the amount is shown on the listing and held on your card. It is released when the owner confirms the clubs are back.
Damage is capped at the deposit
If clubs come back damaged, the owner can claim the deposit — never more than the amount shown on the listing. Both sides should photograph the set at pickup and at return.
We review disputes
If the set is not as described, the handover does not happen, or you think a deposit was wrongly kept, open a dispute from your dashboard and our team will review it.
