Golf has always had a secondary market. Long before the internet, golfers traded clubs at the range, passed bags between generations, and sold their old sticks at the pro shop. What's changed isn't the game — it's the platforms extracting value from the people who play it.

Steeped in tradition, not chasing the trend.

Golf's recent boom in popularity is real. The courses are fuller, the waiting lists are longer, and the gear market has never been larger. We welcome every new golfer into the game. But Tools of Golf wasn't built to capitalize on a moment.

We were built for the golfer who has always been here. The one who knows the difference between a blade and a cavity back not because they read it on Reddit last month, but because they've played both for a decade. The one who buys a set of irons to keep, not to flip.

The traditions of the game — its etiquette, its patience, its demand for honesty — are exactly what we want to bring to the marketplace. A place where a handshake still means something. Where the condition of a club is described accurately because your reputation depends on it.

Community isn't a marketing word. It's a commitment.

Every major marketplace today talks about community. It's on their homepage, their investor decks, their Instagram bio. But look closely at their fee structure and you'll see the truth: they're extracting value from that community, not investing in it.

Poshmark takes 20%. eBay takes 13.25% plus fees. The RealReal takes up to 60%. These aren't partnership fees — they're tolls. The platforms built the road and now they're charging you to drive on it, every single time, forever.

We believe in something different. A marketplace where the sellers who build the community are rewarded for doing so. Where growing your sales on Tools of Golf means your fees go down, not up. Where eventually — at $15,000 in lifetime sales — you pay us nothing. Zero. Because by that point, you've earned it.

Start at 5%. Drop to 2% at $5k in sales. Zero platform fees at $15k. The more you contribute, the less you pay.

Once Tools of Golf is profitable, a portion of platform revenue will be redistributed to the sellers who made it possible. Not as a promotional stunt. Not as a one-time gesture. As a structural commitment, written into how the platform operates.

Platform revenue will be tracked and made open source to all account holders. You'll be able to see exactly how much the platform makes, what's been redistributed, and what's being reinvested. No smoke, no mirrors, no fine print.

We call this democratic commerce. The idea that the people who create the value of a marketplace — the sellers, the curators, the community members who refer their friends — should share in what they've built. Not as employees. As partners.

What we're building toward.

Right now, Tools of Golf is a marketplace for golf gear. But what we're really building is a model — a proof of concept that you can run a platform with low fees, radical transparency, and genuine community investment, and still build something sustainable.

We don't have venture capital. We don't have a growth-at-all-costs mandate. We have a small team, a clear set of values, and a community of golfers who believe the same thing we do: that the game deserves better than what the big platforms have offered.

If we get this right, the model scales. If we don't, we'll have built something we're proud of and learned exactly what to do differently next time. Either way, we're not going anywhere.
