Tools of Golf

Condition
Guide.

Every listing on Tools of Golf carries one of five condition grades. These aren't arbitrary numbers — they're a shared language between buyers and sellers, so you always know exactly what you're getting before it arrives at your door.

Why it matters

Used golf equipment is graded inconsistently across most platforms. One seller's "excellent" is another's "good." We built our grading scale to end that ambiguity — each grade has a precise definition that applies to every club, bag, and piece of apparel on the marketplace.

For sellers

When listing, choose the grade that honestly reflects the item's condition. Overstating condition leads to disputes and returns. Understating it leaves money on the table. When in doubt, grade down and note it in the description — buyers appreciate honesty.

  • Sole wear from regular play
  • Face marks consistent with heavy use

  • Sky marks or crown wear on woods
  • Significant face wear or groove wear
  • Grip likely needs immediate replacement
  • May show refinishing, paint fill removal, or modifications
  • Structurally sound unless noted otherwise
