Golf club hire in Ireland
Land in Shannon, Cork or Dublin with hand luggage and collect a full set from a local golfer before the first tee time.
A touring trip, not a resort stay
The great Irish links are spread along the Atlantic coast, and most trips cover a lot of narrow road between them. A hard travel case for clubs takes up half a hire car and has to be hauled in and out of every guesthouse.
Hiring a set where you land removes all of that. Sets on Tools of Golf are owned by Irish golfers, and each listing shows the clubs, the pickup area and the dates available.
What to look for in a hire set
Expect wind, and expect some rain. A set you can flight down, with a hybrid or long iron you trust off the tee, will serve you better than chasing distance. Match shaft flex and length to your own clubs where you can.
These courses are walked, over big dunes. A light stand or carry bag with a rain hood is worth asking about, and it's sensible to check whether the set includes a putter and an umbrella.
Planning the route
Shannon is the natural gateway for Lahinch and Ballybunion, with Tralee and Waterville further into Kerry. Cork suits Old Head; Dublin has its own cluster of links along the north coast of the city.
Choose a pickup close to your arrival airport and book the clubs for the whole trip. Owners block out unavailable dates, so the calendar on the listing reflects what you can actually book.
Where you'll play
Irish links to build a trip on
The south-west is the classic itinerary; the west and Dublin are easy to add on.
Ballybunion Golf Club
Ballybunion, Co. Kerry
The Old Course runs through towering dunes above the Atlantic. On most shortlists of the best links anywhere.
Lahinch Golf Club
Lahinch, Co. Clare
Home of the blind Klondyke and Dell holes, in a town that lives for golf and surf.
Waterville Golf Links
Waterville, Co. Kerry
Remote, on the Ring of Kerry, and one of the most complete tests in the country.
Tralee Golf Club
Barrow, Co. Kerry
An Arnold Palmer design with a spectacular back nine through the dunes.
Old Head Golf Links
Kinsale, Co. Cork
Built on a headland jutting into the Atlantic, with cliffs on almost every side.
Portmarnock Golf Club
Portmarnock, Co. Dublin
A classic championship links on its own peninsula, twenty minutes from Dublin Airport.
The Island Golf Club
Donabate, Co. Dublin
Tight fairways between high dunes, across the estuary from Malahide.
County Sligo Golf Club
Rosses Point, Co. Sligo
A Harry Colt links beneath Benbulben, and a good anchor for a north-west trip.

Pricing
What a hire costs
Owners set their own prices, so there's no single rate card. Every listing uses one of two models, and the price you see is the price you pay.
Day rate
One price per day
The simplest model: a flat daily price multiplied by the number of days you book.
Price bands
Cheaper the longer you keep them
Owners can set bands by length — for example one price for a weekend and a lower daily rate for a week. Each listing shows its own bands.
No extras
Nothing added at checkout
Pickup is local, so there's no shipping, and no booking fee on top of the listed price. A deposit, if the owner asks for one, is a hold on your card rather than a charge.
Rental protection
How renters and owners are covered
The same four rules apply to every rental on Tools of Golf.
You pay through the site
Rentals are paid by card at booking, through Stripe. The price on the listing is the price you pay, and you never need to hand cash to an owner.
A deposit is a hold, not a charge
If an owner asks for a deposit, the amount is shown on the listing and held on your card. It is released when the owner confirms the clubs are back.
Damage is capped at the deposit
If clubs come back damaged, the owner can claim the deposit — never more than the amount shown on the listing. Both sides should photograph the set at pickup and at return.
We review disputes
If the set is not as described, the handover does not happen, or you think a deposit was wrongly kept, open a dispute from your dashboard and our team will review it.
Questions about hiring clubs
- How does golf club hire in Ireland work on Tools of Golf?

- What if my plans change?
- Cancellation terms are set by the owner, so check the listing before you book and message the owner as early as you can if your dates move.
