Accessibility

Last updated: January 1, 2025

Tools of Golf is committed to making our marketplace accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or technology. We believe an inclusive platform is a better platform — for buyers, sellers, and the community we're building.

01

Our commitment

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

This is a living commitment — we review and improve our accessibility regularly, and we treat accessibility reports as high-priority issues.

02

What we aim for

We work toward the following standards across the platform:

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse
  • Screen reader support — pages use semantic HTML, proper heading hierarchy, and ARIA labels so screen readers can interpret content correctly
  • Colour contrast — text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background, in line with WCAG AA standards
  • Resizable text — content remains readable and functional when text is scaled up to 200% in the browser
  • Alternative text — all meaningful images include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked appropriately
  • Focus indicators — visible focus rings are present on all interactive elements so keyboard users can track their position
  • No motion dependency — the platform does not require motion or animation to convey information or complete tasks
  • Form labels — all form inputs have associated labels and descriptive error messages

03

Assistive technology

We test Tools of Golf with the following combinations of browsers and assistive technology:

  • VoiceOver on macOS with Safari
  • VoiceOver on iOS with Safari
  • NVDA on Windows with Chrome
  • TalkBack on Android with Chrome
  • Keyboard-only navigation on Chrome and Firefox

04

Payments & third parties

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which maintains its own accessibility standards for the card input interface. If you encounter issues with the payment form specifically, Stripe's accessibility team can be contacted directly at stripe.com/accessibility.

Shipping rate calculation is handled by EasyPost. This functionality is embedded in our checkout flow and we are responsible for ensuring our implementation of it is accessible.

05

Alternative access

If you are unable to access any part of Tools of Golf due to a disability, we want to help you complete your task another way. Contact us at admin@toolsof.golf and we will assist you directly.

We can help with browsing listings, placing orders, setting up a seller account, and resolving disputes — all via email if needed.

06

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility issue, you have the right to escalate. In the United States, you may file a complaint with the Department of Justice under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

We take accessibility seriously and would prefer to resolve any issue directly — but we want you to know your rights.

Known issues

Work in progress

We're a small team and accessibility is an ongoing effort. These are known areas we're actively working to improve:

Product image carousels

Swipe-based image galleries on product pages do not currently have full keyboard support. Arrow key navigation is being added.

In progress

Cart drawer focus management

When the cart drawer opens, focus is not automatically moved inside it. This makes keyboard and screen reader navigation harder than it should be.

In progress

Notification dropdown

The notification bell dropdown does not currently trap focus or respond to the Escape key to close. This will be fixed in an upcoming update.

In progress

Mobile nav menu

The mobile navigation drawer does not yet have ARIA roles or focus trapping when open.

Planned

Filter controls on listings page

Some filter toggle buttons lack descriptive ARIA labels indicating their current state.
